After registering at your home club a transfer meeting is held to make the teams within our district. Teams are more often than not a combination of children from a number of clubs playing out of a host club that MAY NOT be the club you signed up at. You could be transferred to any of the teams in the district. You will likely be contacted by a team representative approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the season which runs from the middle of October until the middle of March. You will also not likely receive a schedule until 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the season. If you haven’t been contacted by a team representative by October 5, please contact your club convener to find out where you are playing.
Remember soccer is a TEAM sport. Each player is a valuable member and contributes to the team and to the development and enjoyment of each other player on the team. By signing up for soccer you have made a commitment to be part of a team. The team comprises and operates as a total unit. Attending all practices and games for the team should be a priority. Practice is where the player learns. Missing practice is a detriment to the development of your player. It is difficult for a coach to develop a team when some players consistently miss practice.
Teams will typically receive one match per week, (Approximately 18 total games). Girls play on Saturday, boys on Sunday and there is a possibility of Thursday evening matches, depending on availability of fields. The venues of play will be the WSF Soccer North (770 Leila ave.), WSF Subway Soccer South (211 Chancellor Matheson Rd.), and the University of Winnipeg RecPlex (400 Spence St.). Teams also will typically practice one evening per week at a school gym in the area. This night is subject to gym availability and could be any night of the week and may not be every week as the gym may not being available certain weeks due to school functions.
